CHRISTMAS EVE 2024: Live Animals, Carols, + a Pageant
Christmas Eve Service: “Instant” Pageant with Outdoor Nativity Dec. 24, 5 pm at the Banning Lewis Preparatory Academy As folks walk into the Christmas Eve service they will be greeted outside by live animals, Joseph, a “pregnant” Mary, and some shepherds. Then, once inside, all will enjoy a spontaneous, “instant” pageant. As kids walk in, they will be invited to pick out a costume (angel, shepherd, wise men/women, animals) and then will be called up in the service when their special part arrives. And of course, we’ll sing lots of Christmas carols, have a brief Christmas sermon, and close with everyone holding a lit candle (battery operated though!) to the singing of Silent Night. Invite your friends to this special service! (Oh...and as you leave the school, you will be greeted outside by an Outdoor Nativity of Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus just born!) *Please arrive 15 minutes early if your child plans to participate in the pageant.
Welcome to First United Methodist Church, Prairie Campus! An inclusive, open-minded, Christ centered community.
Through God's love, we are each created in God’s image. No matter whom we love, no matter how we look, no matter where we are on our journey, God’s imprint is in every person of every race/ethnicity, every gender, and every sexual orientation. We believe that Love put on flesh—brown, poor, Jewish baby flesh—and came to live among us. We believe God lives among us still; we are the living body of Christ. We are the hands, feet, and heartbeat of God. We believe the Spirit of God calls us to freedom, and we are not free until all of us are free.
